Future Accessibility (2017)
Resource Listing
Links and resources referenced from the 'Future accessibility' talk by Alastair at the Collaborate conference 2017, and updated for the Accessibility London Meetup.
- The slides from the presentation, with notes (inaccessible PDF). Please note these are not remotely accessible, it is a print from PowerPoint version in order to include the notes. I'm only putting this up as context for those that can use it, the official video (with captions) should be up soon on A11y London, and I'll be making a short series of blog posts from the same material on the Nomensa blog. Both of those will be up far more quickly than the time it would take me to make this PDF accessible.
- Where UX Fails accessibility (Youtube), my previous talk at the Interact conference, which is better as an introduction to accessibility.
- VR clip was from 'Click' on BBC news, available on iPlayer
- Convenience for You is Independence for Me video of the 'quadfather', Todd Stabelfeldt, founder of C4 Consulting, who has lived with quadriplegia since the age of 8. (Requires Safari / iOS)
- Ebay's MIND pattern library with accessibility integrated.
The guidelines
- Introduction to WCAG the official introduction from the W3C.
- WCAG 2.0, the currently 'live' guidelines, from 2008.
- WCAG 2.1, draft of the new guidelines, read the intro to see how to find the new guidelines.
- WCAG 2.1 SC, latest drafts, good for finding the latest 'understanding' documents.
- WCAG 2.1 issues, the place to comment or add 'bugs'.
